wat: thanks for the clarifications. I did manage to get one right — financial_aid_07 (the generic white filing cabinet) is in what I'm pretty sure is the actual, true financial aid office.
Laura: thanks for your kind words! The lady in the black filing cabinet shot actually didn't want her photo taken so I feel slightly bad for posting it. But I decided to include her because she was one of two people I encountered in dozens of trips to these offices with the authority to give me permission to photograph who: a) was actually in the office during normal working hours and b) was willing to give me that permission.

financial_aid_06 is Columbia's registrar office, where you add/drop classes.
financial_aid_11 is Columbia's cashier, where they pay you! (A funny turn of events).
Neither are financial aid offices but are assuredly very dismal locations where students often fight big, unfriendly University bureaucracy.
