Thesis presentation

A very rough five minute practice presentation I gave to my thesis class on Jan 25, 2007. I wanted to speak differently about ShiftSpace, presenting it without using our usual public space metaphor.

Correction

Michael Ang is researching biotech for his thesis project. We simulated how he might use Trails after seeing how he was using del.icio.us to assist his research.

Not well explained

I don’t think I’ve made a very strong case for my del.icio.us is too open-ended argument. Need to work that out more.

Ommission

Mushon is also contributing code, which I should have mentioned here. In general, I didn’t say enough about our collaboration.

About ShiftSpace

An Open Source layer above any webpage

Over the last year or so of development on ShiftSpace, Mushon and I have worked to find the right language to describe our project. Up until now we’ve been making the argument that true public space doesn’t exist online, and that is what ShiftSpace provides. I tried here to present ShiftSpace more directly, focusing more on what we’re trying to achieve this semester.
