Last weekend, after a brief visit from the NYPD (suspicious activity I guess?), I helped Eymund Diegel, et al. from The Public Laboratory do some grassroots mapping at the Gowanus Canal. The New York Times City Blog just published an article and video about the community effort to clean up the long-abused waterway.
