Rebooting this website

Looking at a photo book with tiny Ginnie.

phiffer.org has been dormant for several years and I intend to start using it again. I’ve never been very consistent as a blogger, but I have enjoyed having posts to look back on all the same. I just want somewhere to publish stuff now and then, and this seems like the most natural place to do that.

What I had running the site before was a kind of half-formed thought of a publishing system that I wrote and rewrote until I forgot what my goals were. I ended up spending more time writing the software to run the website than actually using the website to publish anything. I will pull in some posts from the archives so it’s not a total loss.

I’ve replaced my own cobbled together CMS with something called Ghost. So far it seems to suit my needs. I no longer feel the need to write my own content management system, and that feels like progress. I just want something that works, and I’m interested in trying an option that’s not DIY and not WordPress, just to see what else is out there.
