Ricardo

The last time I relaunched this site in 2009 I mainly focused on posting photos. I tried to make one good picture per day (shooting/editing/posting online). That aspirational cadence meant that I carried a camera around with me most of the time and it made me more comfortable taking pictures regularly.

The first photo I posted in that last iteration of the site was of NYC musician Ricardo Molfa, shown above. I saw him busking on my daily commute at 14th St - 6th Ave station. Hearing Ricardo play guitar for a few minutes before my connecting train arrived would always put me in a better mood. He was friendly and would chat with me between songs.

It was only when I was assembling this post that I discovered that filmmaker Mattias Olsson made a documentary about him and violinist Dorel Zamfir. It’s a fun watch, especially if you’ve ever happened to see either of them play in the NYC subway.
